Lagos to Host FIABCI’s 75th World Congress, Showcasing Africa’s Real Estate Renaissance

Date:

Lagos, Nigeria’s bustling economic hub, is set to make history as it hosts the 75th FIABCI World Congress from June 9 to 13, 2025. This marks the first time the prestigious event by the International Real Estate Federation will take place on African soil. Announced during a press briefing at Lagos’ Metropolitan Club, the congress is poised to attract global real estate leaders, policymakers, and investors for discussions on sustainable development, infrastructure financing, and Africa’s growing role in shaping urban innovation.

Lagos: A Strategic Choice

FIABCI Africa & Near East President Adele Adeniji highlighted Lagos’ pivotal role as a beacon of economic dynamism and innovation. “This isn’t just a conference; it’s a celebration of Africa’s transformative strides in real estate and urban development,” she remarked. Known for its rapid urbanization and entrepreneurial energy, Lagos will welcome over 200 international delegates to the Eko Hotel Banquet Hall for five days of high-level networking, knowledge sharing, and investment opportunities.

Spotlight on Africa’s Real Estate Revolution

The congress will emphasize Africa’s advancements in areas such as sustainable architecture, smart cities, and public-private partnerships. Key topics include infrastructure financing and technology-driven urban planning. Prominent attendees such as U.S. FIABCI President Kevin Brown and Lagos Tourism Commissioner Toke Benson-Awoyinka will join Saudi Arabia and Uganda delegations to explore how Africa is setting new benchmarks in urban development. “Africa is no longer catching up; we’re leading the way,” said Rogba Orimolade, a FIABCI member and investment strategist.

Unlocking Investment Opportunities

Adetoun Otepola, Group MD of SOLID GROUPS, described the congress as a gateway to foreign investment. “Land is Lagos’ new oil,” she proclaimed, emphasizing the city’s potential to attract significant Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). With private equity interest surging in Nigeria’s real estate sector, Orimolade added that attendees are coming “to do business, not sightsee.”

Transforming Global Perceptions

Beyond facilitating deals, the congress aims to reshape global perceptions of Africa’s capabilities. Sessions will focus on inclusivity, climate-resilient design, youth-driven urbanization, and aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “We’re matching global standards while offering uniquely African solutions,” Adeniji noted.

A Call to Action

FIABCI has invited developers, architects, policymakers, and industry professionals worldwide to participate in this groundbreaking event. As Adeniji concluded passionately, “Lagos is ready to prove that the future of real estate is being written here.”

This landmark event underscores Lagos’ emergence as a global player in real estate innovation while placing Africa firmly on the map for sustainable urban development.
