7 Great Habits To Make You More Productive In The New Year

As the year comes to an end, one common practice is to review how the year went. You are also likely to set some goals and new year resolutions for yourself. You might have some areas you want to improve on such as your health, eating habit, career, finances, relationships, etc. or you might want to pick up new habits like learning how to do something you’ve never done before.

Whatever your plans are, your wish is to be more productive in the new year. Being productive doesn’t require a whole lot of energy. You can increase your productivity by planning your schedules properly and prioritizing what’s important.

We have put together 7 simple habits that can help you with your goals for the new year and leave you feeling fulfilled.

Do not multitask
No matter how you feel like you’ve got everything under control, always resist the urge to do everything at once. Concentrate on one task at a time to help you stay less distracted and avoid mistakes. You may think that you can receive a phone call, prepare dinner and do the laundry at the same time, but it will only slow you down and take up more time than when you do them one at a time. To increase productivity and become more efficient, avoid multitasking.

New year

Do not procrastinate
If you are in the habit of always getting things done later when you can do them immediately, you need to consciously put in effort to get things done at the right time in the new year. Send that email when it should be sent, wash the dishes after eating. Piling up chores and tasks will only leave you with so many things to do at once. You will get stressed and tired over what could have been done with ease.

Get enough rest
Working too hard without taking a break may have negative effects on your body. Make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep daily. Go to bed early so that you can wake up on time to start your day. Take breaks in between work to increase your productivity. Our brains need to rest to perform at an optimal level. You can also meditate briefly to help you relax and clear your mind from distractions during work hours. Remember to take pause and take deep breaths when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Find an accountability partner
You’re more likely to achieve set goals when there’s someone else that holds you accountable. Find an accountability partner in the new year that will help you stay focused and motivated especially if you find it difficult to stay focused on your own.

Drink water
Studies have shown that drinking water regularly can make you more productive. When you’re hydrated, you’re able to focus on tasks. Dehydration often makes you tired and makes it difficult to concentrate both at work and at home. Make a conscious effort to consistently drink water to help you stay hydrated in the new year. You can set a reminder on your phone to help you remember to take water at the set time.

Ask for help
No matter how independent you may be, you can’t do everything alone. If you have difficulty with completing a task or have so much to do that you can hardly keep up, you can ask for help from your partner or co-worker. Don’t be afraid to ask for help in the new year. You get to be more productive and achieve more when you get the help that you need.

Keep track of your achievements
If you want to feel motivated and fulfilled, you should keep track of your achievements. A person that tracks their accomplishments will be more productive and motivated to keep going. You can keep track of your progress by writing your daily achievements in a personal journal or using an app.
