5 Simple Self-Care Ideas For Work From Home Mums

As a work from home mum, you need to make self care a top priority for you. Juggling between work and family responsibilities, you may forget about your needs and personal time. As a mother, your maternal instincts take over and all you can think about is your children and how they are properly cared for. Whether you have grown up children in school or an infant in your hand, taking care of yourself is a must.

In the midst of changing diapers, nightly feeding of your baby and working from home, self care is essential to avoid physical, mental or emotional breakdown.

Because we know that burnout from all the stress of doing so much everyday is real, we have put together some real life tips and advice to help you manage yourself.

Set goals

It is important to always set goals both in your personal life and in your business. Setting daily, weekly and monthly goals will help you stay focused and be aware of your progress. If you set goals and attain them, you’ll be aware of the progress you make each time and it will have a positive impact on your mental health. Not only does setting goals help you stay organized, it also helps to have a clear outline for each day so your time doesn’t go by without you achieving something tangible. You can keep a journal to capture the events of each day.

Schedule your personal time

Work from home mums often forget to schedule time apart for themselves. This is a very important part of self care as a work from home mum. You can pick an hour everyday to de-stress and do what makes you happy. Listen to good music, take a nap. Whatever you do, find peace and calm and turn off the world around you. If you don’t set time apart for yourself, you won’t know when to take a break. Remember that if self care isn’t in your schedule, it isn’t real.

Be deliberate about your beauty routine

It is normal to feel good when you look good. Invest in looking good. Take your skin care routine seriously. You can be a work from home mum and still have time for beauty routines. Get your hair done, go to a spa, buy and use organic skincare products to leave your skin looking moisturized and great. Be sure to use sunscreen. You do not have to do heavy makeup but some powder and lip-gloss is okay.

Work out

Engaging in exercises is a very important part of preserving your physical and mental health. Exercises provide a huge range of benefits for the body and prevent diseases and health issues. Take out time to engage in exercises to help improve your mood, boost your energy level, promote a better sleeping habit and reduce the risk of health problems such as heart diseases and diabetes.

Get support

Apart from having plenty of things to handle, work from home mums tend to get lonely from being alone most of the time. Having people around that understand you and offer support will be good for your mental and emotional health. You can find or set up a group of work from home mums in your community to meet up and work together or simply have lunch together.
