Real estate consultant and Founder of Property Company, Lizoye Properties, talks to Propertydome in an exclusive interview about her experience as a real estate consultant and the Nigerian real estate industry.
Let’s start with a brief introduction about yourself. When did you know that real estate was your passion?
I am Oni Temitope Lizzy, a qualified Real Estate Consultant and owner of Lizoye Properties, a property company. I specialize in sourcing properties for individuals, corporate organizations and companies. Whether it is for rent, lease or outright purchase. I also manage properties and offer professional advice to clients.
I’m not surprised that I am in the real estate industry. I have always had a passion for real estate since I was in secondary school. I didn’t just go into real estate, my passion even made me study estate management as a course in The Polytechnic Ibadan.
How has your experience been so far?
It has been an extremely interesting experience so far. I am enjoying every aspect of being a real estate consultant. Though the real estate industry has its downs, I am always optimistic about facing challenges. I’m not going to say it has been easy.
When I started, I had clients that always wanted to under pay me simply because I was a newbie. Even now, there are days when I have overbearing clients that refuse to cooperate. I have learned how to transparently communicate with clients and how to deal with overbearing clients. All these experiences have made me who I am today.
Which of the states would you say has the highest number of property sales in Nigeria? Why?
Lagos state of course, and this is because it is the most populous and is regarded as the commercial economy hub of west Africa and among the biggest in the whole of Africa.
What kind of houses are trending right now? What design of houses are people interested in buying right now?
Block of flats, especially 2bedroom flats are trending because of their affordability. This is because of the economic situation of the country now.
As a real estate consultant, would you advise your clients to buy or build their house?
I have different clients with different desires as well as different budgets. I usually advise my clients that can afford to buy houses to buy instead of building one. This is because buying already built houses saves time and is less stressful.
